Why should I join the WBH?
WBH has Big Game Awards, Small Game Awards, a Carp Trophy, a Big Buck Trophy and
a Big Bear Trophy which are awarded to our members. For Big Game Awards, the
successful member receives a gold pin for their first kill, a synthetic diamond
for their next three deer kills, or ruby for a bear, an emerald for a coyote, a
sapphire for a turkey, and a topaz for a bobcat. With kill number 5 the WBH
member is placed on the honor roll maintained in the office, and receives an
honor roll patch for all future big game kills recorded as a WBH member.
WBH produces three annual publications - a magazine entitled "The Bowhunter"
with two issues mailed to current year members in April and August. WBH
supplements these publications with a newsletter that is sent to all current
members in January of each year. The January newsletter serves as our convention
notice. Each member receives a current year hat pin, a membership card, and 3
issues of our publications. All of the above is included in your membership
dues.
WBH holds an Annual Convention, traditionally the first weekend in March each
year, wherein the members present vote on policies and activities for the next
twelve months, and elect their directors to represent them. The convention also
features guest speakers, seminars, and dealer displays. The convention site is
selected several years in advance and is held in different places throughout the
state of Wisconsin
WBH sponsors the Necedah Shoot, the largest bowhunter shoot of its kind in the
nation. It is held each year the weekend AFTER Labor Day beginning at noon on
Friday. The member gains much at this shoot through contacts with experienced
bowhunters. They become acquainted with good tackle and its proper use, as well
as having an opportunity to shoot under natural hunting conditions at life-sized
deer and bear silhouettes, which affords the member excellent practice.
The Bowhunter Booster membership is available to clubs, businesses and even
individuals for an annual fee of $25.00. The Booster's name is listed in our
newsletter and receives a membership card large enough to display in their
window. We urge our members to support those Booster members who support us.
